Yes, there is no comparison with and without 4ws working. After fixing 4ws car felt so much different, came alive. Without 4ws you feel like dragging dead meat in the rear all the time

Are you comparing prelude with 4ws working and not, or prelude before and after allingment?

Certainly not normal, but after 20 years thats whats you get. Would not worry too much about it, mine has this stationary knock for 4 years already, god knows how long it was like this before me and its not getting worse, so yeah. Make sure your both tie rods are ok.

Find out error code first, maybe its just a temporary driving conditions code. But probably not

May sound funny, but check if actual bulb for 4ws light is present in your instrument cluster :D i know i have removed it when i was out of luck fixing my 4ws, that guy could have done that too if its been disabled for this long. One error is enough for 4ws to shut off, so there may be minor problem...

Well comparing working 4ws on 5gen and not working for a while now, i can say that with 4ws not working, car is very unstable. Rear is floating from side to side. With 4ws working, car was changing lanes in highway like a formula 1. Much more stable and fun to drive.
