As it says really. Trying to open the drivers door is a lottery. If I press it down and pull it might open otherwise its lower the window and put my hand out to use outside handle The other (non)option is paint 01 on it and call it General Lee. So how does this linkage work is there likely to be something failing or is it likely to be the case of lubrication? Anyone got a diagram of the door gubbins and how easy is it to get the door panel off.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, a couple of years ago I had this problem and wurlycorner pointed me to the crux of it. If it's happening like mine did, it'll be something to do with the rods that operate the open/closed mechanism. I'm going to see if I can find the link to my original query, then I'll put it up for you.
By the way, the dicey part is removing the leccy window/lock surrounds. That bottom part is ridiculously thin and consequently extremely fragile. Handle with care. ;)

Hi again Paul. This might help.
I thought I had a couple of photos that Jason sent to me of the rod/connecting gubbins, inside the door. I think it's gotten lost in the bowels of bloody Photobucket. Sorry.

its quite possibly the plastic circular section of the rear of the handle in which the spring fits around on the inside, which over the years cracks and then breaks.

Paul this page of my profile may help visualize:

There's a shot of the rods etc. Could be something simple like one or more of the plastic retaining clips for the rods have broken. I've seen that before and it -can- result in what you describe.
