I wonder how many people we'd lose if we did ask for donations.
Perhaps we could try a halfway house: a nominal fee for anything in the 'for sale' sections could be a start?

There doesn't need to be any asking. I think just advisable amount could help out. It might have spur people on. Then again it might not

this club should be donations only im afraid. ludebehaviour went under because of greed through a paid members only section where most established people who were on the club paid and new members were put off and came here or puk.

i for one do not want to, and will not pay paid membership.

I don't have a problem with that.
Neither do I think that anyone who profits from the club, such as a successful sale, should mind if asked to chip in a bit.
After all, if the club is any use at all, it has a perceived value.

Either way, it's good club with nice people, let alone useful.
I'm happy to take part, with or without ...

Just in case there is confusion (because I can see how my second post could be misinterpreted), I too entirely disagree with a paid membership! It splits the population, as you say.

I disagree with selling fees too to be honest. There is no real additional work the admin team have to do to facilitate sales (apart from I guess LudeBay which no one uses!). I'd group being asked for a donation following a sale, in which the only work done is between the seller and buyer, into the same group as inheritance tax. I've created and managed phpbb forums before and it's about 30s work to create a subforum.

People should donate at their discretion and there shouldn't even be a suggested amount. As an aside, I HATE that there are museums (I think it was the Museum of Science) that are lottery funded with free admission that then have these boxes right at the entrance. The foyer is designed to funnel people single file between them, and these areas have staff standing right there looking at every person as you go through.

So been thinking about how to increase funds for club and thinking that merchandise is the way forward eg t shirts/hoodies we could have an ordering system for example only make an order once 10 people want one then there is no dead stock sitting around and if there was a small profit made on each one I'm sure most people would be happy! This could then go into club kitty I use this company www.printwizards.co.uk they are extremely good and helpful and supply clothing! We could come up with a couple of slogans may be? Such as Always be prepared lude up! Any way what do you think @wurlycorner and @gayno
If it looks like jobby and smells like jobby it probably is jobby!

That's a good idea could do alsorts of things, mugs pens, umbrellas I'd buy them all
As for dead stock you could always use drop shipping. So you don't have stock you make orders as and when. Like a middle man between the buyer and seller. This could be another option :D

I think we should have this on the front:

And then on the back some outrageous 1/4mi claim from an EP3 owner.

FYI that Arthur episode is a classic, along with the one where a potentially poisonous snake gets loose in their house.
