That was what I was thinking. I wonder if they used 3rd gear to up the power output a bit? A good management system and map would make more power. What system is it using?RattyMcClelland wrote:Those figures are very low. Is it using the absolute Clubbing Eddy jrsc engine management?
You should be getting close to 220-230 and 190 torques at the wheels.

Re: 5th Gen 2.2 Motegi
The cables from the ecu run under the drivers seat carpet so I will need to pull out the seat to take a look. I'm expecting it to be the JR piggyback ecu. There's a little boost knob In the glovebox, what exactly does that control and is it safe to adjust if its the JR piggyback ecu?
The dyno runs do seem low but the standard run showing 190bhp and 151ftlbs don't seem too off the mark for an engine that came with 197bhp and 156ftlbs from the factory. Take into account losses over the years and they don't seem to be too far out.

I think Jackson racing had an ignition timing control unit. Does it look like this?:

Yep it's running on the jrsc engine management. The knob adjusts the timing, it will advance it or regard it. Don't mess with it. I guarantee there will be engine ping and knick anyway. Get a Hondata asap. Mist jrsc lures fail because of the scrappy jrsc emu.
That power is on par with American jrsc running the same management.

Yes that knob is in the glovebox and the control unit must be under the seat along with the EMU.BMCC wrote:I think Jackson racing had an ignition timing control unit. Does it look like this?:

What would be the best route to go for tuning if I keep it?
Uprated manifold and exhaust then hondata ecu and remap?

I'd get the hondata ecu first and get it properly tuned then sort out the exhaust. If you've the cash get them at the same time and tune once! To be as safe as I can I'd run the car on Tesco 99 ron (That's the highest ron I can find for my Pulsar) Some use the new version of Optimax from Shell but there aint a shell garage within reasonable driving time from my house.JDM-BB4 wrote:Yes that knob is in the glovebox and the control unit must be under the seat along with the EMU.BMCC wrote:I think Jackson racing had an ignition timing control unit.
