Hi ya, I'm after some advice I have just killed my h22a7 red top lude, I'm looking at engines and the h22a5 comes up cheaper, what are the differences between the engines, I no the a7 has more power but how? Can I use components off my old engine to turn the h22a5 in to a h22a7 or are they totally different.

Amongst others:

H22a5
10:1 compression ratio pistons
50mm crank
P13 head
Regular cams
Hydraulic LMA's
60mm throttle body
Regular intake manifold

H22a7
11:1 compression ratio pistons
55mm crank
PDE head
More aggressive cams
Sprung LMA's
62mm throttle body
Single runner intake manifold

There are some bits you can use, depending on what you have broken.

Hole in a piston where the spark plug went in it lol, cams intake ect are fine. Do they run the same ecu?

Did you have an H22a7 installed in your car? Are you sure it isn't the H22a8 rather than the H22a7? It could well be the H22a7, just thought I would ask.

All H22's use different ECU's due to their mechanical differences and available fuel.

I have the standard h22 that comes in a 2000 w reg prelude. My friend said it was the better 200bhp engine (red top) that's comes in the accord type r?

Later 5th gen vti 99 onwards were fitted with h22a8 and close ratio m2p4 gearbox. Earlier 5th gen vti were fitted with h22a5 m2v5 gearbox. Atr were fitted with h22a7 and u2q7 gearbox....

The engine code is stamped on the front of the engine.

55mm crank was only in the H22a7, H22a8 and some later on H22a's.
