Re: Central Locking Fob/Remote
I'm pretty sure 99% of ludes have the motors.
See a switch that says lock next to the drivers release handle? If you have that, you're good to go.......

Re: Central Locking Fob/Remote
That's not strictly true; mine has that button, as they all do, but there's an actuator that controls the lock button itself, to move it inside the car, but it doesn't affect the locking status of the car/key position in the door, so you essentially need an actuator to control door open/close status from the inner barrel end.
I'll hazard the guess that some have this, and some don't, purely down to what was available at production time, and so some UK-spec cars have other country-specific "passenger" insides on their driver's door.

Re: Central Locking Fob/Remote
If you flick that electronic switch, do both doors lock/unlock? They should do, can't see any point in the switch otherwise.......

Re: Central Locking Fob/Remote
Silver momentary switch next to the window switches on the drivers door (seems to have been a JDM option) lets you lock both doors - so indicates a motor in the drivers door.
UKDM cars have a nice blanking plug there, and need a solenoid added in the drivers door.

Thanks Indy, so if you have the switch, you have the motor; if you don't have the switch, you don't have the motor.

No; mine has the switch but it does not have the motor, and it's a UK supplied car. When the driver's door was stripped I could see the preparation points for a motor, using the passenger door innards as a template.

Re: Central Locking Fob/Remote
The confusion, which is probably my fault, is the term "switch"; are you talking about the large tang with "Lock" written on it, which is part of the inner door handle assembly, or are you talking about a switch that's the same size as a window switch and placed just after the toggle switch to stop the passenger's window from being opened/closed?
If it's the "Lock" tang, there's a physical connection between the lock barrel and this inner door tang, if you part-turn the barrel from the outside with the key you can feel the resistance and you can see the inner door tang partly move through the driver's window.
I should take a pic, but it's too dark now!

Here's a pic of a driver's side door/window console:
Driver's Side Door Console
Are you talking about the "switch" being the up/down toggle switch with "Lock" written under it (this is normally always blanked on UK cars), or are you talking about the large kidney-shaped tang that is part of the door handle and would sit where that first smaller gap is?

Re: Central Locking Fob/Remote
And there endeth the confusion, we were talking about different switches.
