so my daily searches of ebay for a hardtop finally paid off.
spotted a new listing which by coincidence was local to me. It was slightly damaged (a scratch on the glass) and a few others on the paint. but I was able to go view it and realised the glass scratch although bad could not be felt by finger nail, so might polish out.
after assuring the seller the fitting kit alone would fetch 400 I hoped I could buy just the hardtop...we agreed on 420 for the hardtop!!! and he would deliver it to my house!!!
after a few hours of polishing the paint MCB has come up great apart from the bigger scratches. it will need to be painted black anyway. 2 hours of metal polish and toothpaste on the glass has completely removed it!!!
then when I try move it to my attic it wont go up the second flight of stairs!!!!! bummer
