Confused, no compression
Thinking about the plugs, I wonder if it's excess fuel and not oil. I'll try to find out, but I'm not sure why there would be so much fuel getting dumped in there.

Confused, no compression
It's very smoky, and the plugs coke up quite quickly leading to very rough running and it trying to stall whenever I lift off. I'm always up for an Italian tune up though, so I'll give it a go.

Confused, no compression
So, good news and bad news. I set the valve clearance to the maximum and ran the engine on the starter a few times, and also squirted plenty of carb cleaner in the intake. Let it sit overnight and ran it again. There's now excellent, equal pressure across all cylinders. Problem now is oil is getting...

Confused, no compression
If you've filled the cylinders with rope to hold the valves up, it is *possible* that you've bent the valves - if there is too much rope on top of the piston, as you wind the piston up it could contact the valves too soon (before they've fully closed). And that could bend them. Did you do a compres...

Confused, no compression
You say you did stem seals with head on, I recently did the same, I know how fiddley those collets can be maybe check that one hasn’t become dislodged and fallen out.. The collets are fiddly little suckers. I ended up making a little plastic funnel to slide them on top of the valve retainers, then ...

Confused, no compression
Hi Scott560 Many thanks. OK, I've had the car nearly ten years. It did drive great, smooth, with plenty of power. I was driving home a few weeks ago and the engine died without warning. Got it recovered, checked it out and the timing belt had snapped (7 years old, so probably fair enough). I killed ...

Confused, no compression
I'm pulling my air out with this, so if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. Currently I have barely any compression in any cylinder, it's like 20psi across the board. But I did have 130psi across all 4 cylinders. Here's the deal: Timing belt snapped. Now it snapped out of vtec, and as people h...

Timing belt snapped, no damage?
And I was just about to order an engine. Thank you @Vtecmec. I'll put a new belt on and see how it goes. I'll compression test it after.
I'll report back in a few days

Timing belt snapped, no damage?
So the timing belt has snapped. Sad times. And today I've gone to take a look at the damage. Can't see any. If anyone was to ask me what's the chance of no damage if the timing belt snapped I would say 0%. I've had a borescope in each cylinder and the tops of the pistons look fine. No dents, chips, ...
