There is a screw in the throttle body that is specifically meant for setting the idle, I had to do mine recently. Don't do it from the throttle cable! ;)

Have you got an ABS modulator in the engine bay?

Also does the ABS light come up on your dash when you turn the key, then go out once the ignition is on?

There should be a +12v feed in the boot where the courtesy light is, just off the top of my head.
