Sooty residue in the exhaust

I think it's pretty normal. Since the h22 gets through a fair amount of oil, it doesn't surprise me the exhaust is full of carbon/soot.

My garage door is covered. I park with the tips about 4 inches away from the door, and it always gets splattered on startup.

Hardly an inspiring range, is it?

The 'New Cars' section of the Honda website is very uninspiring. I guess the UK Market has dwindled for them, people have obviously been drawn to the aspirational and fashionable brands, or the cheaper ones. The advice of the previous generation (buy a reliable honda) must fall on deaf ears. No coup...

Little gathering at dynodays one Saturday?

it's just a printout normally, you sometimes get 2 runs back to back, so not really any tinkering time really. drive car onto dyno, they strap it down, check the oil, ask you if the car is going to blow up, stick some fans in front of the rad, hook up a probe to the ht lead , warm it up a little bit...

Rust under Spare Wheel

I believe the missing bung will allow water in much more than you think. Whilst driving, water will track up under the car and turbulence/airflow will blow it into the car. You could probably find the bung on amayama parts listing. If the rust isn't too deep or bad, I'm sure a bit of wire brush acti...

Coolant pipe, radiator cap, bonnet cable

Also worth checking no one has adjusted the rubber bonnet stays also. These affect the bonnet gap when closed, you can screw them in and out to adjust the pre-load on the catch slightly. Over time the rubber can shrink and go hard and need a slight adjustment. If you've hit the mech with brake clean...

Little gathering at dynodays one Saturday?

Thought there would be some more interest for this - it's relatively central. If it helps get the numbers up I can bring 2 cars lol.

Little gathering at dynodays one Saturday?

Yeah, I'd be up for that. I think I went once about 15 years ago in a rover turbo, good times lol.

Leaking rear caliper

If you didn't replace both callipers, check that the pivot point is free/greased on the other sides calliper (the part where the cable links to the calliper handbrake arm). If not, it will get pulled at a funny angle, and prevent both callipers from being tensioned evenly. I would have replaced both...

Tyre Wheel Nut Issues

I find that if you aren't going to do mega miles, you are better off going for a softer tyre. The wife has Goodyear eagle as4 tyres and they already seem to show a fair amount of micro cracks all over and they are probably only 3 years old. She does reasonable mileage so the tread is getting close t...
