At the start of this year, I cut out all crap food - chocolate, crisps, anything with lots of sugar. By the end of March I'd lost a stone in weight, and that was without doing any additional exercise. Also for the last 5 weeks I've stopped drinking tea and now solely drink squash and water, with the exception of a Coke whenever we go out for a meal and a beer every now and again.
So far I'm feeling much better for it. I'm now about to join a gym to get my fitness level up now I've lost the weight.
Basically, go cold turkey on whatever it is you want to cut out. It's difficult at first, but it becomes easier.
