I took my 5th gen 4WS on the track for most of last year and pushed it to the max. I never once had any issue with the 4WS. Even when I got out of shape it was just as easy to recover from when compared to my 2WS track car.

how do you think it compared to other cars that were with you on the track?

with regards to the extra weight on the car?

I would be hard to tell IMO, 30kg odd would be hard to notice when it weighs 1250Kg+. Through the corners I was able to keep up with most things. My driving instructor was surprised at how good the 4WS was. He thought that it would not be able to keep up. One theory we shared was that I am setting the car into the corner properly so the 4WS isnt having to really work to keep up. The only other explanation in my mind is that the 4WS can work quickly if needed to, I was able to catch a flew tank slappers in it.

The 5G was lapping faster than my stripped BB4 before I did the suspension upgrades on the track car (which hasnt been timed yet), using the same tyres.

My HICAS works properly and the faster you go the more you feel it, compared to my BB4 which is 2ws I find that I need far less steering angle to get round a corner and even for a BIIIIIG estate the Stagea swaps direction quite readily, this is all with cheap tyres on 18's and coilovers set too low to the ground so only the inside edge of the tyre is working. With some time in setting it up and having the full width of some grippy rubber available I'm sure things would be much much better.

That said, when 4WS of any kind has a problem, fixing it can be a real ball ache, although I have found a place that sells HICAS "drag" bars, basically thicker steering arms for the system so less prone to bending under extreme abuse supposedly, I've never heard of any bar bending before but I still want them all the same hehehehe
