Infact this confirms it, timing belt and balance belt, tensioner pulley and normal pulley. Your old autotensioner has been reused and sounds like its failed.hondansxr wrote:THE kit came with the auto tensioner as the guy said it was a pain as you had to keep it compressed put it on and then release it to tension ....
the kit came with 2 belts 1 tensioner and 1 pulley

The autotensioner is a Honda only part. There is a holder tool/bracket that is used to handle the part on and off the car.
Sound like the bracket wasnt used and the tensioner has failed as a result of incorrect handling.
When I had my timing and balance belts fitted at Honda the autotnsioner failed when they test drove the car. They had to redo the belts at their expense.
There a few alternative parts out there now which you may want to consider before forking out £150 for the Honda part. There is the H23 manual tensioner conversion kit at around £95 and there is an aftermarket manual tensioner at about the same price-cant remember who makes it...

they redid the belts at their expense and fitted a new autotensioner. I had to pay for the part.
i did point out to them it was known good practice to replace the autotensioner when doing the belts anyway

That will be the reason they redid for free, don't think hondansxr will be as lucky as he supplied the parts himself, if a claim is possible it will be against blueprint but chances of them accepting a claim under warranty when the autotensioner being used was a used one is very slim.vanzep wrote:Yes it was all done parts and labour at Honda main dealer![]()
