I always get messy doing cv boots so I cop out and normally just buy a drive shaft

Pads and discs should be the second thing people learn to do on a car after a service.

Basic socket set and a g clamp is all U normally need (torx bits if its vag)

pads and such are easy nitin. we can all do stuff like that. CV boots can depend on how easy stuff comes apart and off. sometimes a lift is the only way to get the torque on the bolts.
go at the pads and see how you go.
