testing my knowledge here but if you wanted to go the external coilpack route, your better off going for one for each plug, Think that's how most turbo cars run

yes you would ammo, BUT, that would require a standalone ECU.

i have one of these some where, basically they give a bigger and better spark mainly for higher powered cars and can be run on standard ECU's

I remember reading a h22 civic build, he tried to put a 75 shot of nos through it but only got about 20bhp and a really bad afr due to the ignition system. He changed it to individual coils packs like on most modern cars and had much better nos results

I think the dizzy system wasn't up to much with nos involved. Can't remember where I read it tho :(

so this seems a well priced update on the stock mid 90's item then?

hmm. worth a little more research. Im not after loads of ponies. just well controlled ones. If i can get a better ignition i can better use the 11:1 CR... maybe.

So is the idea a more powerful spark in turn causes more complete ignition leading to more power/better running?? I was actually thinking about this for my Golf, the exhaust stinks of petrol and it idles like a turd. The stock coil pack looks pretty tired, I was wondering if a better coil pack, leads and plugs would settle things down...

^^^prob a bloody good service. timing, valve clerence etc..

it seems a more controlled burst of electricity can aid combustion in higher comp engines. cop is the way forward. iv been told and reserched it out and thats how the big boys play.

Already set up the timing twice now due to cam changes, and my valves are opened by hydraulic followers so as far as I'm aware there's no clearance... I guess the only solution is a VR6 engine swap

What's COP? coil over plug or something? I was looking at my mate's Yaris sport thing the other day, his car had a separate coil pack per plug. I bet it gets expensive when they all get towards the end of their operational life :?

I don't really see the point of this without having some large power build. The Honda's OEM ignition system is more than capable for most peoples mods. Seem popular in the states, but only because they all have the external coil as standard on there ludes, so it's an upgrade replacement when their's go.

Tis up to you, but I think I could find other areas to spend that kind of money personally.
