BEWARE: Fake DVLA Email

Post by Gayno » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:28 pm

Copied from another forum, how real the fake email is I don't know, but worth making people aware
Hi all,

Just been sent this round at work so thought I'd post it up just in case anyone ends up receiving an email from the DVLA:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE SEE BELOW

Operators to be aware of a bogus driver licensing e-mail
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is warning drivers about a bogus email in circulation that claims to come from them. The email has ‘Update Your License Details’ in the subject line and asks drivers to confirm their licence details via a link. The email contains the following message:

We are currently upgrading our database and all drivers are required to update and verify there driver's license details. To complete your license verification with us, you are required to fill out the form in the link below.
<Fake link>
Drivers that refuses to upgrade his or her details within two weeks of receiving this verification email will lose his or her driver's License and will have to take a fresh driving test.
We sincerely apologies for any inconveniences this might have caused you.
Thank you for your co-operation.
©Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency Swansea SA6 7JL

Members should note that DVLA has not sent any such email and that if one is received it should be ignored and deleted immediately.
Keep a look out and feel free to spread the word to anyone you know :)

It costs the scammers nothing to send out a million emails. If they get just 2 or 3 responses they can apply for loans and credit cards in the names of people who did fall for it and make hundreds of thousands......thats all it takes!

If I were less IT illiterate, I'd reply to that email.

With one of the Hostage Trojan Horses buried in the email...
