Be good to know if anyone has experience of corded ones, was looking at one a while back, cebul he just means plugged into mains and not battery operated. Some look pretty good on paper with good torque etc but I've no idea if they are actually any good for stubborn bolts of any size.

Yeah I meant mains powered but I've not actually used one or know anyone who has either.

They're not that cheap as I seem to remember... At least a couple of hundered on google shopping. One of the more expensive ones was 440Nm, but IIRC the snap on cordless is about 550Nm?

The Nm ratings are a good guide but the Clarke one is rated to 400 iirc but outperformed others of higher torque ratings in a few bench tests a while back. Plus the Clarke one is only about £70 or so. Obviously it's not built for being used day in, day out like a mechanic would but for the odd job/home mechanic it should be more than enough. Just want to make sure I don't spend hard earned cash on something that's so useless it becomes a paperweight. I suppose the real test would be find someone wanting to get the crank pulley off a 4th gen and see if'll crack it off, if it does then it will be fine to undo almost anything

Well I know the snap on gun can do the crank pulley bolt. I thought I'd try it just to prove it wouldn't work, after the last time I took it off, it took blood, sweat and tears. 220Nm to off in about 3 seconds. Gutted!

my snap on gun removed the bottom pulley bolt from my pug, it was so tight that i snapped a 1/2 breaker bar whilst using a 6ft scaffy bar :o

spend the extra imo if you do a fair bit of work like this, you'll never have to buy another ;)

Was this the one you used to loosen off those bolts on the seats for me?
Those fuckers were tight, stood on the end of a spanner doing the "please undo" dance wouldn't get those to budge  No idea what nm whatevers it was but I reckon my arms are at least 530 so your thing was good.
