iPod touch liquid damage repairs?

Post by Shiny » Sun Jan 27, 2013 5:12 pm

Can anyone recommend a reputable diagnostic/repair company for an iPod touch?

My lad has a 3rd gen ipod touch and knocked some squash over on his bed and some went on the back of his iPod which was on the bed.

He wiped it off and carried on using his iPod as normal, but it ran out of battery not long after, so he thought nothing of it.

Charged it and started it the next day, everything works bar the touch screen. I've had it sat in a sealed tub of rice for a week and tried a full factory reset via iTunes, the reset worked fine, but still no touch screen.

From what I have googled, they are repairable, so I thought I may see if this is an option. There are a few advertising on the web, but I would rather go by recommendation.

Apple sell refurbished 32gb ones for £145 with a year's guarantee so I need to weigh this up against the potential cost of repair.

Cheers

Looked at them, £25 seems ok, obviously depending on what they may unearth.

Found another for £10, but kind if feel like they are bound to find something that needs replacing at that price.

If you go on eBay you can buy a new screen and LCD for about £12 which comes with the tools for the job with a guide on eBay I replaced both of these on my I phone 3GS about 4 times as I get dropping it and getting it wet. iPod touch is same design only takes about 20 mins
