In a straight line and I beat I by a cars length, so not much but I'm counting itStevelar_granolar wrote:Ive had a play with a 55 plate golf gti after work a couple of times through a few twistys over a couple of round abouts and then down a dual carraigeway in my h22a8 5th gen. The 5th gen sticks to it on the straights, fairs well on the twistys and the golf opens a bit of a gap on the roundabouts but pretty even up until about 120-130mph on the dual carraigeway. Preludes are pretty good for carrying good speed and corner exiting and very forgiving if you manage to lift off oversteer. Obviously thats realistic road driving not drag racing, with a boot full of spares![]()
What model 4th gen do you have? And you say you beat it everytime what kind of lead did you get on it?

My dad has a Mk4 GTi.
Its remarkably stodgy to drive, feels like a diesel.
Mk3 VR6s don't seem to have any top end whatsoever. Couldn't overtake me in the CRX, going uphill
