They are handy, if you do have an old pc though you can use: http://www.zoneminder.com/ for free. A cheapo card to record 4 cameras costs about £7 on ebay. doesn't come with a hard drive but thats only another £28
runs 4 cameras 1 of which is a £15 ebay job to replace a broken 1 and its more than ok.
i can watch it at home on the pc or on my phone if i choose too also.
came in handy when a lorry hit my fathers car outside the garage last week too.
