Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

I don't want Apple TV either :D

I get the concept of these devices, I use an HDMI adapter for my iPhone which is essentially doing the same job.

Its cool I know you were.

The more I look at the Android web TV box I think it is what I am after. It uses the XMBC media centre which can stream TV channels. I found a good vid of a guy installing UK TV channels on his box.

I was going to suggest maybe a cheaper android tablet like a kindle fire or something, and a chromecast, which would do all of that^ (I use a couple of apps that stream all the live freeview channels) but give you the flexibility of the tablet too, but TBH if it's ease of use you want then yeah, maybe the box is the way to go. I have never used one so I'm afraid I know nowt about them.

EDIT: I don't suppose you have Tivo do you? If so, they have a fairly good app too, that allows you to watch stuff around the house/on phone/tablet etc etc.

Chromecast works with Apple, well as far as iPlayer goes. My dad can play stuff through it using his iPad

But if you want simple then maybe one of those android boxes is the way to go, you need to check what inputs you have on your TV though as most use HDMI although that one states - AV Ports: HDMI, AV Composite

As to if they are any good, I couldn't say. You might be able to get a Pi to run those streaming plugins, that will boot straight into XBMC as soon as you turn it on, you would need a remote for it though

I've got one of those boxes, M8 quad core something or other, it's pretty good. Get the one from Juggling frogs. At least you have some support if something goes wrong.

All this is another world to me!
Juggling frogs isn't that cruel?
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

I think it's OK as long as you don't drop them.
