I always thought liter was the American spelling, and we used litre?

I have said it before, but over 350 miles from a 'lude must involve witchcraft.

The correct British spelling of Litre is Litre lol as for Manuel, my bad lol stupid phone and fat fingers :)

Anyhow, thanks for all the input guys. It really is helping me in making up my mind. I think I will go for the swop, I love my MR2 but it really is not practical for what I need. At least with the Lude I can still have fun and reliability.

Future aim will be to get the manual and engine conversions done. This shell is from what I can see so far pretty much rust free so it will be a good base for a start.

So considering that it in essence will have cost me £550 (what I paid for my Mr2) I think that not too bad :)

;)

Seriously I have never got anywhere like that MPG on my road car. The max I ever got was on a run from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and back, 315 miles to the tank at a constant 70 mph on the motor way.

Ah there is your problem. every 5mph over 55 uses something silly like 10% more fuel on the journey. 70 mph in a lude is not a cruise :o its a pocket killer. Try 63 and see much betterer returns. I did in the S when it got too expensive.

Hows this for sick then.... I am getting 400 miles from 60l in the surf and that weighs over 2 ton

ok so its not fast but it is torquey as funk.

Is that true for any engine/gearbox combo, mate? I remember hearing for years that 56mph was the most economical speed, but I've always had my doubts.. mainly due to gearbox ratios etc.

I get +200 miles on £30 all day long in my lude (less than half a tank). I cruise at 60-65.

drokking hell, I must have a hole in my tank then.. £30 gets me less than 100 miles!

..although my cruising speed is marginally higher than 60mph. Maybe there is some truth in LLL's 55mph claim!
