i have a standard accord type R engine so far, but i want to upgrade my valves, springs, retainers etc
also id like to do the pistons and rods
i have a p28 that i will map the car in the mean time whilst collecting bits for the winter engine tear down

Well my standard a7 that has S2000 injectors and very good breathing has been tuned to over 240bhp.
There wouldn't be much point upgrading your valve train unless you were upgrading your cams at the same time. They pretty much go hand in hand. You could do more harm than good fitting stiffer springs and still using OEM cams.
The obvious choice for pistons and rods are Mahle 11.5:1 Gold series and Eagle rods. With say Skunk2 Pro 2 cams you'd be looking at around the 250-270 mark, depending on all your other bits.
Breaking the 300bhp mark is where it gets ridiculously expensive. You'll need to spend around £1k just on the head work. Think I'm +12k in and nothing is even assembled yet
