no it doesnt, infact one of the viruses mimics the security essentials (opens a window exactly the same as the essentials window. if this happends do not click on it, not even the cancel, just navigate away then run a scan.
i have securitty essentials on mine, it got through and didnt show till i scaned

i would have thought security essentials would pick it up when you switch your computer on. if you have logged into puk you should be fine. some trojans (most common type) wont actually do anything, they just hide there till you log onto a site where they came from, this then activates them. you can scan all you like but they wont appear till they get the ok to come alive. think i may have some kind of link attached to my computer so when i go into puk the file that generates these pop ups (which is hiding somewhere on my hard drive) generates another trojan. most are popups trying to get you to click on them, then the problems start. even if you have a window that looks like it has been generated by your own computer be very wary. they usuall give themselves away by listing multiply infection warnings (which is unlikelly as your essentials or anti virus would pick them up on start-up). i would like to know how popups get through my popup blocker
it was puk that gave me the ransom virus
cheers puk

Malwarebytes is good. I somehow got a trojan (not sure where from, but I was trying to find specs for my TV and there were some... foreign sites), all of a sudden a fake PC scanner popped up! Shat myself.
MSE was turned off and wouldn't turn on, so I downloaded Malwarebytes and it caught it starting up again (I'd stopped the process), once it had it flagged it deleted the file. I'd recommend getting both of them. Restarted the computer and all seems well.

no popups on the log in page, so if you go there first then should be ok. but why dont the popups hassle people who have logged in
furum up must sell the space to the popup pedlers with the understanding to leave its members alone, this would work as all the info put into puk by us is searchable via google and the such so would attract attention, very clever. they have sold out on you all.
