@LLL - I'd avoid melee weapons at all costs in my opinion. I'm about average build for a 6 foot bloke, so anyone else my size would be a considerable threat if they also had an edged weapon as we'd be fairly evenly matched. At the end of the day all it'd take is a deep cut to your hand or leg and you could be screwed. Much better to just camp out with tinned food, a gun and enough ammo to pick off any threats that arise from a distance

or i could 'safely' draw your fire while my mates come up behind you and stick you with a sharp stick.......

You have to accept that it might not be your choice to get into a melee. ammo runs out and knives can be sharpened. if you get chopped you need to speak to gorgon

not really matey someone your size wouldnt really present a problem to someone who is used to hand to hand or short weapon fighting in fact your size might even be a hindrance flick of the blade to the back of your knee or inner elbow or wrist or even to inner thigh would leave you crippled and bleeding out

^^^^this is why i have an ex sas friend who i will be asking nicely if i can be on his team. too many people and not enough knowledge makes for a dangerous time when TSHTF.

No, I used to shoot but my girlfriend hates guns so buying a shotgun is out of the question

I was talking about stateside, you see people stocking up on things like M249's and the like. I don't know about you but screw trying to do over a group of people camped down with them

That's what I meant

screw getting into a fight where the outlook is very poor for me. Just camp out somewhere quiet and with good visibility, and just pick off people who approach. Would a hoarde of raiders really bother with you? And if you did see you were outnumbered, just pop yourself

I'd drive up to the highlands with all of my supplies and wait it out in my Auntie's croft house. There's less chance of a threat there as nobody from the South would waste petrol travelling that far so I'd only have some of Scotland & maybe a few people from Northern England to fend off. I'd booby trap the perimeter and guard my stash of beans & sugar puffs with my life
