There is a race series for the compacts, might be worth checking out what they do to them

thats what I'm talking about. I figure the parts will be cheaper for the compact than some other choices from BMW as its aimed at the budget end of the market.

hmmm so it really will just be weight i will be saving. This is fine I think as i surely dont need boot space owning a V70 as my daily. weld in a few bars to make it all stiff, strip out all possible weight and have a proper pocket rocket.

The main impediment is the total lack of any places to practice/play on round here. apart from castle coombe which is expensive its pretty thin on the ground.

What kind of gearbox and diff would you think if you have any knowledge? im thinking just use the 328 drive train but maybe change the rear diff to be a little more pokey. Or get an M3 LSD with 50% lock?

so basically all the parts on the E36 will interchange pretty much? So I could, over time, change over to all the thicker suspension bars etc and come out with a franken-Mti?

the prices for upgrades seem VERY good in comparisson the the honda. You just buy SH upgrades. great mod path.

Drift days might be starting up at RAF Throckmorton which is your way is it not?

http://goo.gl/maps/MrPQ6

As said the rears are different to the salon, not really up on which diff to use, they stock 316 one might be ok, depends on ratios, you might end up with quicker acceleration but reduced top speed

Also found Mo's build thread

yes thats only 50 minutes away from me......... thanks ammo you probably just put this one in the bag. Its right next to a good friend of mines as well so easy stay overs and beers can be had.

im kinda after quicker acceleration and lower top speed. I am going to be baiting boys in much bigger BMW's who think they will easily beat this ageing upstart. All part of the plan, bring them down from within

i found a guy on ebay who supplies any diff any ration so i think i might bend his ear a little :)

im looking over salvage auctions at the moment.
