Nice pickup bud, a little hiccup at the start though - Ouch!

Never mind. You've picked yourself up and learned the hard way.

Love S2000's though - just don't snake it up the strip please! :P

Nice car Edd. I will call you unlucky not a plonker from someone who has had his Soarer change ends on him.
Forget what you ever learned about Ludes and you will survive.
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Nice motor, and a classic mistake after driving FWD and then getting in a RWD motor. I spun the Holden out in the wet once, but that was me playing with a bit of a drift and having a bit too much momentum on exit.

You'll soon get the hang of it though, and then, when you've got used to it, get a proper slipper diff in there, and start learning from the basics again

Thanks man. It's good to know I'm not alone in this.
It comes with an LSD from the factory

Oh no, there's loads of people who have done the same.

And hate to get technical, but you don't have LSD, you have a torsen diff, which puts the power to the outside wheel when cornering (a normal open diff has a tendency to power the inside wheel instead), but if you put one wheel on Tarmac and one on ice, the one on ice will spin whilst the other stays planted.

A torsion diff is an LSD diff or a helical diff instead if viscous.
The later s2ks had soft rest springs IIRC and different bars to allow slightly Moe stable rear.

I heard that somewhere..

anyway looks like a bargain even after the little incident
The original Bridgestone S-02s on the 16" wheels certainly were - the 17" RE050s are less exciting. 17"s do add stability (corrrect offsets obviously!) but at some loss of fun.

However, it's largely bollocks, as either version must be driven like a biker would; paying great attention to the road surface and variations. The passive RWS is very easily upset by ham-fistedness and the car is the total antithesis of the 4WS Prelude in that respect; it requires 100% concentration at all times and you do the driving, not the technology. But that's largely true of all RWD; even the FREDs on the NSX or GT86 can only do so much to save you and the S2000 has none of those.

Looks like you got away with it quite lightly; take care & some track day lessons & you'll be fine!

Oh, meant to add; regular four-wheel alignment is essential. They do some strange things when it's off.

Nice purchase 8-)

Pity about the accident, that is the stuff of nightmares :o

I remember when i picked up the Lude, and some guy nearly drove into me. I was thinking, i might not even get it home without it being wrecked

Glad it was relatively minor damage, hope you have lots of fun with it

Thanks for the concern and pointers :). I'm buying some new tyres to match the rears when I get back from work and I'm going to get the alignment done also.

But I had heard that the original was obviously original and the later models had been toned down somewhat to meet the publics demand.

But you're right on the driving it like you ride a motorbike. I wouldn't dream to wind the throttle to the bump on my ninja coming off a wet roundabout. But for some reason I did in the S2k, inexperience I guess. Proves that no matter how good you think you are, you're not! That goes especially for 17-21 year old drivers.
