They're wired. But you can then buy any cheap wireless router and stick it on the end.

Basically yes, that's the end result. The O2 router you have will likely be for ADSL as well as running some customO2 firmware. You may need to find a cable router to achieve what you need. These are not expensive though, £ 20 should see you right.

Shiny, what you need is a wireless access point, you can set some ISP's ADSL routers up to act as one but the software on most is really locked down. Easiest thing is something like this-

You can either place this in a mid point between the existing Router and the bedroom and it will act as a wireless extender (however this is trial and error and still may be a bit unreliable), or use Powerlines or a wired ethernet solution and put the access point in the bedroom.
I might be able to sort you a set of powerlines for a tenner plus postage

I actually have a network cable running to a pc that sits n the hall outside his bedroom. The cable is not used though as i have a wireless dongle now attached to his pc.
So if i wire the extender above to the o2 router using the existing cable, then i guess i will end up with a second wireless signal outside his room and it wont be boosting a reduced signal, but a full signal as it is wired?
I also guess i wont need the powerlines then? Mind you, might have the powerlines anyway as i can then use them on his xbox, or maybe my Panny TV downstairs?
