Was about 28 of us in total , about 12 women and 16 guys , and quite a mixture of ages too.

Found out a few things i didn't know

1. what is the black band across a lollypop man/womens sign for

2. what are the black marks left on the road from a skid

3. what area has the highest % of collisions and deaths , urban rural or motorways

Also plumber didn't show tonight

It's a chalkboard area they can write car number plates on if someone drives through the crossing while they are on it ect

NOT rubber from the tyres but scorched tarmac caused by the friction of the tyre to the road.

Urban about 70% on both , i was correct that motorways are the most safe but i thought rural would have the highest % of deaths.

The one useful thing I learnt at my course was to stay in 3rd gear in a 30mph limit.
It helps to keep you within the speed limit and doesn't use any more fuel than 4th.......apparently.

^^ My mate sat his advanced driving test and was told the same thing, ish. He was told that you should be in 3rd so you can react to any situation better. Perhaps for a modern car it doesnt use more fuel but in a Prelude I bet it uses more. I find its much more smooth to drive when crawling around in 4th (M2P4

My Auto Lude only has 4 gears anyway so i don't know what gear it would normally be in at 30 mph , only shows gears in tip mode.

PS Plumber showed today and started job , drained system and removed old water cylinder , was in a right old state

Should all be back together tomorow , really looking forward to warmth and a nice long soak in the bath

I'm always amazed at the costs involved in fixing heating systems..

I mean, how complicated can they be?!

But then I'm also amazed at how much mechanics seem to get away with charging!!

I'm no cartographer but I'm sure I could've made and put up 6 shelves and replaced a wooden patio door for less than the £974 Mr Chippy thinks he's getting. 23 hours labour?! Nope.

Precisely.. I consider myself to be reasonably smart.. internet marketing consultant by day.. and yet my rates are lower than the people that fix my car or boiler!
