Work it out in drams and I will be impressed!

Nope, a fluid dram is equivalent to 1/8 of a fluid ounce.

paul bristol uk wrote:Thanks the reason for all this is it comes with a cabinet that weighs approx 20Kg so I am looking at 94Kg. The cainet has 4 rubber feet on it about 3" square I need or would like to replace these with castors and want to make sure enough they are man enough for the job.
I'm not sure about the 'stilleto effect' but i would be very wary of fitting castors. The stand / cabinet will be designed to take vertical loads, with only minimal stiffness to prevent the bottom of the cabinet from widening. As soon as you move it the load will become a sideways force against any resistance on the castors. It might be fine, but i do feel that it is best avoided.

Instead of castors, perhaps a sheet of something cut to size.
Would stop the tank from marking the cabinet, but wouldn't affect loading forces.

I know a guy who used casters, but he got some sort of super dooper reinforced load bearing ones. Could find out what they were if you like? Remember them being pretty pricey though - think it was 100 quid for 4.

How so?

With the current rubber feet, Paul has a cabinet to floor contact surface of 12 sq/inches (assuming 4 rubber feet). Lets take 100kg for ease of numbers = 220lbs. 220/12 = 18.3 pounds per square inch of force on the floor.

With castors, you have just the very edge touching the floor, and it is unlikely to even amount to 1 sq/inch between all 4 of them, but even using 1 sq/inch, that's now 220psi being exerted onto the floor.
