If the shaft is worn oil will find its way past the seals and enter either inlet or exhaust compressor. You'll have heavy oil consumption and blue exhaust smoke. If this is the case with the turbo then extra boost is going to make it worse.

Is the smoke coming from the turbo 100%, maybe there is a loose connection on an oil feed pipe? Do you get blue smoke when boosting?
