Yep, use the fund, it's what it's there for. All these years that you pay insurance and don't make a claim, it doesn't all just go in the insurance company's pocket, quite a bit goes into this fund as well.
I believe, but I'm not sure, that you are able to make a claim from the fund once the driver of the uninsured vehicle is convicted of driving without insurance. Don't quote me on that one, but I believe that's how it operates.

http://www.mib.org.uk/Customer+Services ... stions.htm good news is that they have ditched the £300 excess. Shows how long since I had any dealings with the MID.
I can't remember without checking, but if you have comprehensive cover, you may not be able to use the MIB.
Is the other chap definitely uninsured? Have you informed the police?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will look into the MIB.
Yeah this guy is defiantly uninsured, luckily the police turned up and have been really helpful. They have told me they are putting a claim in through the courts to help me get compensation at the same time as prosecuting for no insurance... but it worries me how successful this will be and the fact it can take up to six months to get to court! i guess the courts in Swindon get pretty busy!!
Also if he has no money then what he going to pay with
So yea MIB sounds like a good shout!
At least i know he can't contest fault. it was a stray motorbike that hit me and the guy wasn't even on it!

Imperial in Swindon will do 4 wheel laser alignment. Although if you can get your car out to Fairford, Performance Autoworks will sort out your alignment and be your best bet.
Having a quick read of the MIB agreement, it looks like where uninsured drivers are concerned that once it has gone to court, a judgement has been issued and the payment isn't satisfied within 7 days, then the MIB will pay from the pot.
Get in touch with the MID and start the process, they will tell you how you need to progress things.

Thanks for the advice again. I think PAW sounds like a good bet, I work near Fairford so hopefully i can make it there soon.
I have found a door and wing for £100 so i guess I'm half way there. I'll have to go back to standard skirts for now though
Anyway i think I'd recommend a Prelude to anyone looking for a safe family car! better than a Rangerover.
That's two big impacts and only body damage sustained
