I'm going to have a re-think about the set-up.
I'm not prepared to have my PC on permanently, so I'm thinking I may buy a cheap second-hand laptop that I can just leave running 24/7.

I turned my PC off last night when I went to bed, and night time is usually when the pond life becomes active.

You might be able to get a very cheap miniPC, if you get one with the Intel Atom board its very cheap to run.

You could give this gizmo a go - no PC required...

It'll probably take a bit of dicking around with, but you should be able to hook up your webcam directly to a flash drive (via this gadget) and have it record to directly to the flash drive..

Apparently. :?

Get a big flash drive, and all you have to do is empty it every now and then when it gets full.. :ugeek:

For the price of a cheap(ish) laptop, this might do the job..

D-Link mydlink DNR-322L Network Video Recorder

probably.. :?

Connects directly to the IP cam wirelessly(?), and stores the video on the disk..

best defence imo is park you car a few streets away where it can be considered a safer location ;) its a slight inconvenience for you but at least you wont be glued to the monitor watching your car
