I'm a finance manager for my local NHS Primary Care Trust, so nothing car related at all

I used to be responsible for running the AP ledgers, which would involve ensuring all our transactions went through smoothly and were reported accurately. With the amount of money involved that was always fun... I now manage non contractual activity for my county, so basically if a resident goes to another PCT's catchment area and needs medical treatment, I'm the guy who looks into it case by case, checking national tariffs, market force factors, patient databases etc. to ensure we're only paying for what we should be. Just finished helping out on the year end accounts too, glad that's over

my biggest bugbear with the job is that a lot of people have an opinion on the NHS which they're all too happy to throw my way when they hear I'm NHS management, when in reality most people only have a very vague idea how we function (myself included until I started working in the sector
