4WS system is just great. It turns the clumsy Prelude into a car that can handle most of the U-turns with ease. Not to say how useful it is when parking the car :) It needs some practice to get the full potential of the rear wheels when parking, but thats all.
The only maintenance needed (recommended) would be to resolder the 4WS ECU which is super simple task. Tis one of the best things Honda put in the legendary Prelude imho.

+1, I won't buy a Prelude without it

Actually, ^this!
It does grind my gears when people say about 4WS always breaking, it really wasn't the case.
More often than not any issues are down to a duff sensor here or there and rarely the actual 4WS itself, providing its been looked after.
The trouble is the generally ignorant public didn't check them as often as they should, and when something (usually simple to fix) did arise, they decided to be unscrupulous bastards and remove fuses and sell on, thus tainting the image of yet another SUPERB bit of Honda kit, that was so far ahead of its time as usual that only now are people like Porsche putting on their supercars...

After 10,000 miles of 4WS not working, I'm still trying to get used to it now that it does. Parking speeds stuff is entertaining; high speed corners don't really feel any different. Where it goes weird is when leaving slow roundabouts and the system switches from one way to the next. I guess the secret is to wait until you're on a straight before accelerating from, say, 15mph to 30.

I'm nowhere near confident enough in the system to take it on a track, yet I don't have any desire to turn it into 2WS.

(Mind you, the poor car's possibly just a lottery win away from becoming RWD! )

you will never do it. you need to make a tunnel the length of the car, make a recess in the fuel tank. add the front rack and drive assy too.
never been done im sure.
