Nice car- the AP1 s2K's are the best IMO- slightly more raw & edgy!

My bro had one with a K&N typhoon. Sounded the nuts!!!

The later s2ks had soft rest springs IIRC and different bars to allow slightly Moe stable rear.
But the point being that it is not a true LSD, as it is not always fixed and you can still spin one wheel up with the other stationary. A friend of mine purchased a proper LSD for his S2000 and it made a massive difference to how it handled. It is a lot more tail happy, but also a lot more predictable and controllable now as well than it ever was with the factory torsen diff.

But you can spin one wheel with a "proper" LSD. If you couldn't it wouldn't be a diff.

Nice buy! Welcome to the s2000 club!
Shame about the damage but luckily it wasn't too major and you've learned an early lesson in rwd ownership.
As said tyres, alignment(look out for seized adjustment bolts) and a track day tuition will help you keep a handle on it. Any sudden change in acceleration, braking, or steering on a corner or bumpy road can throw the rear. The key is to keep it smooth. Especially in the wet. ;)

rwd is sooo different from a front driver. you can be quicker in the wet in fwd but is nowhere near as satisfying as balancing a rwd on the limit :D

What's the difference between the JDM versions? And it still had the long uk plates before the accident.

Plus, how much did the insurance increase by after you moved from the slow preludes.

Jdm is 25bhp down on the UK market and has no heaters due to the warmer climate in Japan nitin. But that makes them have the same power to weight ratio because the jdm is lighter and made of thinner steel and plastic. Unfortunately this makes them rust far easier, especially the plastic bits .

Are you sure it's down on power compared to UKDM? I thought it was more then uk as its got higher comp ratio etc. :?

No it has higher tyre pressures to reduce the contact area but lower compression. That's where your getting confused I suspect .
