To Type R or not to Type R?

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

S2000 would deff be my first choice, but it needs to be futureproof... Back seats. :(

Really I need to test drive an ep3 to see what they're like. The thing I loved about my lude was the power was there when required but also a nice, comfy, smooth cruising car at low speeds.. something I'm unsure the civic will match.

As for the CTR looks, I like them. Unsure on the red seats though.

Dc5's tend to.be a bit too pricey I think. :(
I really want another Honda, under 4k and not too old, so ctr seemed a good choice.

Buy a car that you love. :D

I could have bought my self a Ep3 for the price I got from my crashed car payout. But then I didn't like it and loved my older, rustier, huge eyed, unpopular and very high mileaged Prelude instead. Why?.. It's because I love it and don't care what anyone thinks about. I would not 'JizzInMyPants' as much in an another car.

Don't listen to the naysayers, they are a very capable car, especially for the money these days.
That said, I wouldn't console yourself in the fact that they are quicker, they really aren't. There was zero in it in the real world between our cars and that was a stock UKDM lude at the time. They have an extra gear change to contend with ;) The civic would pull away slightly but the lude would claw back at the top end of every gear.
Also, build quality. My brothers was brand new, mine was 8 years old at the time, and still felt better in terms of build quality etc.
IMO this and Nitins post sums it up perfectly.

I got my current lude for £700 with 92k and a FHSH. Spent £3k on the engine and ended up with 228bhp & 174lb/ft torque.

Both considerably higher than a civic of the same total cost. OK so you're not going to have much for it when you come to sell but definitely worth it while you run the car as the power delivery is fantastic. Got good spread on the torque too which makes motorway overtaking way too much fun :D

Mine turns a lot of heads round my neck of the woods, mainly because it isn't a CTR or scooby! Anyhow, thats my 2p :)

BTW the weight on the ad is wrong, should be around 1320kg IIRC

I've seen that type S ad for a while now. 123k miles is the only thing that puts me off. I know they're solid motors, but it's still 123,000 miles.I've wanted a type S lude for years.

Think I'll just wait a little while and see what pops up first, a lower mileaged type S lude, or a bargain facelift ctr.

I wouldnt let 123k put you off. Got my last lude on 110k and took it to 160k in 2yrs with almost no trouble (only issue was clutch slave cylinder for 50quid)

The guy i sold it to was so happy with it he sent a few pitures through a few months later after it had some new parts added :)

ive just got an ep3. 100k full service history 53 plate 2700.

coming from the lude its no quicker and the mpg is no better although for some reason the insurance is half the price.

it is a dulled down typer compared to its predecessors but its still a capable car on the road although on track you notice the weight.

as there getting cheaper you will find people dont want to spend so nuch on upkeep so check service history. good qualiry tyres etc. as alot have budgets on.
