Thanks Mike, v helpful.

This looks like the link I need - the worn bushes are the circular, hollow rubber rings at the end. drop link ..so I should replace the whole link instead of just the rubber?

thats just what I did mate, Im not sure on the hollow circular ones, I had to replace the ones at the other end. I had changed so many bloody bushes by time I got to the drop links I couldnt be bothered and just ordered new drop links lol. unfortunately I cant click that hyperlink either (ebay is restricted at work) so cant see what your showing. The bush sizes you should need are 11x26x30 (thats for all the ball joints and track rod end bushes) not sure if theyre the same for the drop links but my guess would be they are. They look it.

Sorry, Can i just say how the hell did he fail drop link bushes for deteriation. You shouldn't fail them unless they are broken apart. And same for inner rack end as far as i can see it would be an advisory. OMG. Lol

yeah theyre identical to mine...I'd say 15-20 is the going rate, I got quoted between 15 -20 from a few different motor factors.

If the car was unsafe and falling apart then I'd understand, but because these are all minor bits of wear and tear (i.e. a couple of mm play in the bushes and ball joint and a tiny split in cv boot) I'm quite pi$$ed off.

Don't think of it has stuff they are making you do. The nice MOT man is giving you advanced warning of bits that are about to fail. Fooked bushes and ball joints = horrible handling, excessive tyre wear, poorer fuel commonly.

The MOT guy is just exercising the latest changes in MOT regulations. IMO its better they get these things picked up in MOT's as the usual econobox driving monkeys wait until they are stranded at the side of the road before they think of doing any car maintenance.

Personally I would be pissed off with having a car with a couple of mm of play in balljoints, rather than being made to fix it.
