Cheap tyres generally are a harder compound and therefore smoke more and offer less grip as well as lasting longer is what i think i meant

Only just read this.

James, three words:

1) YES

2) YES

3) YES

So to summarise: Yes, yes, yes.

Do it bud - everyone needs a project to keep them occupied and nothing better but to look at getting into a little drift action. Once we're settled with the baby and money and the lude is done (to a point), I'm looking at a drift project too. 8)

In the words of Ben Stiller - 'DO IT!'.

@ammo: Im not a fan of welding and a car of that age in my price range will need it. really old bimmers are gaining now and the cheapest option is a late 90's compact.

Re that beastly DOHC 4.0 V8. Not on your nelly buster :!: its too darn big for its own good and they make poor numbers once you have shoehorned them in. If i was going to go V8 it would be LS1. Half the size and weight and double the numbers. Pushrod all the way baby.

:vtecmec: same buddy. too old and too expensive. this is for hitting kerbs and bushes and things. i would feel bad killing a car that old.

@Nyzlude:  ;) the more I think about it going slowly at full rpm sideways just seems like a good idea. Iv half a mind to get one already converted so I can then put the saved cash into it. coilovers etc...

Exactly. The taster drift lessons I had with Phil sealed the deal for me. Just got to wait it out for timing and money. That new venue is a turn for the books - I looked on Driftworks for a local place and they are far and few between in the South. So that looks ideal. 8)

350bhp is more than enough for a competitive drift car, plus a shed load of torque

Lots of cars run the BMW v8 cos they are cheap as chips and don't weigh much more than a skyline engine
