Education at the moment, I'd love to have my own microscope but they're expensive... are at least the ones I'd have are expensive  I've just started a unit on genetic manipulation and we're doing something with these. Not quite sure what yet but in about a week should have some babies  In one of my other units hopefully either this week or the week after we should be playing about with various fungi, bacteria and viruses so I'll get some more pics of that stuff as it happens ;)

Ahh that's so awesome 8-)

On a sort of related note! Would you have any idea on the best way to repel flies? Would the bag of water with a coin in it gag work??

Wash more often?

I dunno if that bag thing works, seems a bit of a fable

I've tried loads of things to keep the mosquitos away in Italy, the only thing that seems to work is repellent with DEET in it. That and a physical barrier.

This is Dave. He is scared and cautious of everything. And generally always has a surprised look on his face.
When I started working away he apparently spent the entire time sat on the stairs waiting for me to come home.

And this is Tabitha, tabby or tabbycat for short, she is generally more nosey and loves company. If in cooking in the kitchen or out in the garden she is guaranteed to come and join me.

Guard cat 8-) our cat Wendy thinks she's a dog. Wifey ended up putting a shelf in underneath the front window so she could sit inside and look out. She meows at the postman and everything

Lol! I run a butchers shop that annoyingly has an open front and it's literally impossible to keep one or two of the little buggers away  tried all sorts to keep 100% away but 2 or 3 must really want some meaty goodness :?

Even the smell of their friends cooking away on the insecticutors doesn't seem to bother them

Yeah good luck with that

This is Wendy. She's not quite normal, one of her favourite things is sitting in the sink watching water  quite often she gets in the shower after you finish and watches the drops fall down.

And Fatcat. All he does is eat. I get in the morning and feed both cats, he eats both lots of food and waits for wifey to come down and pretends he hasn't eaten. He's a Russian Blue and he plays fetch. 8-)

More for you @bristol_bb4  I even instalosered them for you ;)

JCVD has dispersed his seed competently throughout the extensive virgin female population I gave him. Sadly it was also his last day. Him and his wenches were given a healthy dose of sleepy liquid and put in the freezer. RIP Jean-Claude, never forget.

The white maggots are fairly new but the darker ones attached to the sides of the tube are starting their pupal stage and will be flies in a few days.

Next! This morning we isolated our own DNA in ethanol using some enzymes n jobby. Was pretty cool although it does look like I've just spaffed in a test tube.

Image

Hopefully next Thursday I can get it under the microscope and get a closer look at it 8-) Wednesday I'll be able to show you the bacteria I've been raising  E. coli, Streptococcus and one that glows under UV light.
