Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

imo they are both good cars for the money. It comes down to your personal style choices rather than a tick box breakdown.

Type S
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

4th gen all the way baby! 8-) [followed by 5th gen]

When i sell my 4th gen oneday in the future i would be quite happy to then try a 5th gen out.

But it would have to be bulletproof and as reliable as a 4th which imho you can not beat!

4th vs 5th ; Horses for courses, there are some better bits on a 5th, most are only slight. I had a 5th, It was more modern inside but felt like any other modern car when you were stood still. The drive is always going to be the same as essentially they are the same car underneath. A little bland to be honest. The 4th always felt special jsut sitting in it with the swooping dash and funky dials. I prefer the body on a 4th aswell.

Honestly though, how many people have seen a vectra c in the distance and double took thinking.it wad a 5th gen? I have in all seriousness!
The headlights at night are atrocious on 4ths though :?

As for rust, well I can honestly say there was more on the spare wheel well of my 5th than the whole of my bb1 and bb4 combined, I just hope you smug 5th gen owners learn from the 4th gens!

I like the look of 1st 2nds and 3rds, would I own one, probably not unless it had a h or k series in the front of it!

1st Gen, by definition, as long as there's still one on the road.

I love them all - but the 1st gen is really nice, stylistically. Bit slow though (I'd imagine) and not the easiest to own (parts availability poor, I guess)?

2nd gen seems rather anonymous to me, like a not-so-pretty 1G. Why would you want one?

3rd gen gets interesting; distinctive eighties 'folded paper' shape, 4WS, peaky engine, pop up lamps, nice suspension; good interior...

4th gen - I love the swoopy interior and the space-age dials, and outside the shape is interesting. Looks dated now but will look charmingly 'of its day' (like the 3G) very soon. From some angles the back looks quite NSX-like... Electronic 4WS, VTEC motor - what's not to like?

5th gen - heavier, best engines, but bland interior and outside styling isn't special – although it's neat enough. Seems to lack a bit of character compared to the others?

I'd be happy with any of them, they're all great, but on balance for me I chose the 4G because it's a bit of a walk on the wild side for Honda.

But is personally own all ludes if I could before any other car.
This...exactly my thoughts :D

3rd Gens were the new Prelude in my teens  and I've always loved them. We should all drive one at least once. The reaction of its 4ws is both weird and ace at the same time  Like Ratty I'd love to own all the Gens ;)

3rd gen 4ws is mechanical and permenant at all speeds. 4th and 5th is electric and only works at low speeds iirc.

3G= Mechanical 4ws

For me the 4g is the 'best' all rounder in lightweight (si vtec?) guise. No sunroof/aircon etc. Best seating position of any.

Some 5g 'might' come with an A8 motor- however they really need that extra power over the A5. Feel a bit fat & frumpy to drive & the looks are very marmite. I've driven my brothers A8 5g & it's certainly quick(ish) & competent, but not special IMO. It also looks like a space hopper with its stock ride height....

I have to agree that the late 80's/90's were a golden era for some great H badged cars- EF Civic VTEC, CRX VTEC, 4g prelude vtec, ek9 civic, dc2 integra etc etc. It was when Honda were miles ahead of the competition producing revvy powerful N/A motors when the likes of VW were still putting a 1.8 8v with 112hp in a mk2 GTi....

Rose tinted specs perhaps but the newer stuff really doesn't do it for me...
