hello?!
Dunno but im stripping that motor and selling parts on if they are salvagable.
lewd lude lover wrote:@ratty: will you be doing anything mod related while it is out? balance shaft removal? hondata heat seals etc?
Balancer shaft removal is pointless if it helps break a crank on a daily drive. On a built race car its fine. Was removed on the previous motor so no.
Only doing a full service like spark plugs and all valve cover seals, thermostat, waterpump, belts, sensors and fluids. Engine ran smooooooth when i started it.

I think ratty has taken the right course.

he now has a good engine and a load of good parts available in the old one.. the old engine would cost more to repair than this was to buy im betting and he would have no spare parts to keep or sell.

Exactly. Spent £1100 on a new engine with bugger all mileage, I can spend £300 on new parts for it from America not from HondaUK. Rebuild my other engine was minimum £2k with best case scenario as it new crank etc. Worst case scenario would be £3k.

If my Mahle pistons, head have survived i can get £500 or so back.
Iv got a ATR intake manifold waiting to be retrofitted to the new engine once in and will port match it to a bigger body, Full solid fab exhaust inc header, Greedy remap and 240bhp. Im happy.

It's been so long i've forgotten, what was actually wrong with the old engine?

Possible spun bearing but quite bad causing engine to stall at low revs and i drove 10miles home with it and harldy and power and the loudest racket ever.
We will see soon enough. Will hopefully pull the engine out soon.

i drove a shitroen xara with a spun bearing for 12k  twice it locked the engine and twice the engine was obviously running out of order and once it felt like it was going to take off but turn it off/turn it on again and off you went

This probably was a spun bearing then. Sounded like a dropped valve. Like a nail in the cylinder head.

And 3 years and 5 months later we have EPIC progress.

Car was transported to PAW this morning. I had to pull the car off the drive with the van using the JDM style tow hook which works BTW that i got at japshow. Shame i scratched the lip with it.
Front bumper off job to get it on the transporter just. 2 hours drive down with the engine in the van and done.

I could see Rich eyeing up my "I Love Nitin sticker". So we shall see if its still there next friday upon pick up.

To call me as excited with a fat kid and cake wont do it justice.
