Petrol Strikes
Newspaper? I thought it was a comic

A friend of mine has been seriously looking into getting a diesel that can run on various bio and waste oils. Given the price of fuel, and that it's set to increase, as well as the fuel tax hike in August, on top of all this government media manipulation, I think it might just be the final straw. And f**k it I might just get one myself.
I was surprised to learn recently that the original designer of the diesel engine made it to work on peanut oil, as well as many other bio-oils, so fuel would be readily available anywhere and there were lots of choices. Strange how over time the public have been led to associate fuel=petrol or diesel only, and they're only available from the oil giants who of course make loads of money for their rich shareholders.
I've just about had enough of our choice of 3 dictatorships. This bull about proper bio fuel not being available on our forecourts like it used to be a few years ago - because the govenment were 'concerned' it would push the price of food up is just more spin. If they were concerned about that, they could simply introduce a tax on the land that bio fuels are grown for - making the profit for farmers the same as if they grew foodstocks.
End rant.

Supply and demand I guess. Bio-fuel isn't a long term solution at all, except if you have a still that makes ethanol from waste organic material (food) maybe.
I guess electric is the way to go as it can be generated fairly easily and environmentally friendly at home. But I'm not prepared to put in the wonga right now and then have to spend a cack load again after 5-7 years for new batteries. But of course that's what we're all supposed to do right?

I was quite lucky, last one into my local station who basically were capping £20 fuel and closing early to make sure they have fuel left. They also said it was stupid and couldn't get a tanker in until wednesday next week. As they know me and I was last in I got to fill the tank, company van and fuel card thank fook, my commute is 90 miles each way and before that I was averaging 400 miles per day. At least I know they have sense and have put measures in place to stop panic buyers, regular customers who always fill up the same amount the same times are cool there so not too bad. I have also got working from home as a temporary option if I take a load of software and files home but I expect it'll blow over soon, thankfully no MOT on the Stagea but it's 70l tank is going dry and will need filling up soon after she's back on the road.
Why don't we all just chill and have a cup of tea? I am, and I'll laugh when the fuel is back to regular supply. As for the "impending strike" it's not even been decided yet, yes there has to be a line where safety is concerned, however it should not get to a strike, the measures should be put in place and nothing should be affected. Seriously no idea what they're doing besides slinging round crap that stirs people into going loopy.
At least you guys are sane (well except Nitin and his VTEC mouth

Couldn't get any fuel last night, drove around for an hour today, every petrol station had ran out. Had to drive fooking miles into the Derbyshire countryside to a random petrol station in the middle of no where
Fuel light came on yesterday, drove 32 miles with the light on
not sure how many miles you can do on reserve
