Lude Generation

I know it sounds stupid but I'm going to buy a track car. I want a 4 ws lude but does it have to be motd and taxed to be taken on a track. Also do I have to get another license to drive on a track and can you get a day insurance for track use

General rule is it has to be be in safe working condition with no fluid leaks, doesn't need to be road legal

You don't need a race licence just to do track days

And track day insurance you'll be lucky, it's generally a run at your own risk poilcy

i took my tired-ish 75k mile 5th gen 4ws on a track day, did 8 15min sessions and it was fine, had a good blast.

Doesnt seem to be many low mileage ones about though anymore...

Can I ask why a 4WS lude?

Ok thanks guys. 4ws just for handling really was gunna completely strip it out so its light and thrash it round a track. I want to get another cheap lude to do it though as I want to turbo mine but don't want to thrash it round the track

You'll find most lude trackers prefer 2WS as the back end is more solid and you'll get a real understanding of how the car handles when being pushed. Hopefully you'll not be going slow enough to truly appreciate 4WS on the track anyway and heaven forbid the 4WS ECU throws up an error (which isn't uncommon) whilst you're pushing it

Of course it's your decision if you want to track a 4WS, just something to consider

So the 4ws is actually worse on a track?

Yes it is. I had mine on Nurburgring and since then I still have an issue with this thing. 4WS is good on car parks and thats it.

on the flip side of the coin, my track lude has seen around 8 track days and never broken a thing, including its 4ws, and I definitely push it every session

nath's right, most people here would prefer 2ws though, I wouldn't say its "worse" on track though, more risky in case it fails maybe - plus the bonus of 2ws is saving weight over the heavy 4ws.

I love 4WS on track. My 5th gen is awesome on track and handles great. BUT! 4WS is one more thing to go wrong so I am glad I dont have it on my 20 year old track car.

The JDM BB4 is the car you want if you are going on track. 2WS, no sunroof, no ABS, no CC and old enough so you can do anything you like to the engine and it's still road legal.

Preludes are great cheap track cars which is why a few of us have them
