Melbourne? Absence

Chaps,
Heading off to Melbourne to see my brother for 5 weeks on Saturday.
Any recommendations for sights/pubs/eats/activities in the Melbourne/Victoria area? Just a thought.
PS -
may not be able to post much, or at all (not taking a smartphone - I fear bankruptcy) so an early happy Xmas etc. to all just in case...

Good Luck , down-under, I'm going to N.Z. mid to late Jan. Perhaps Perth as well, perhaps Japan, but also Malay G.P. end of March, Thailand after G.P. for several weeks, then home.
