hi all, i have fitted a new hard drive to my daughters machine and re installed minecraft to the latest version.
the mine craft launcher 1.3.8 is displayed.
i press play and the status bar in green scrolls to 1oo% and the launcher disapears opening a new screen, minecraft 1.7.4 box (white screen with mojang logo) this then disapears sending me back to the launcher 1.3.8

its just a cycle that does not progress.

i have the latest java version 1.7.0.51
i have fresh install of minecraft

thanks

Hmm. Have you got any mods installed or something? Maybe its a problem with your new hard drive's settings or something like that. Can you give us more info about your system specs?

Like ram cpu and operating system. Did you have problems like this before changing the hard drive? We cant help you without getting more info.

......................

its nothing to do with the hard drive

Go into development console after the crash. It'll tell you some info.

................................

Check your '.minecraft' folder for any errors. Also, look at any crash reports. Have you kept your system updated? If not try checking for system updates; antivirus may also be checked for viruses on computer. And as always, check the dev. console for valuable data. If you can't find out what happened, ask someone for more help.

Ive found the following with a Google search.
CODE: SELECT ALL
On Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, while attempting to install Java or running Java applets or applications, error message is displayed
Error : Exception_Access_Violation

CAUSE

We are still investigating root cause of this issue.
SOLUTION

This issue could be seen due to User Account Control (UAC) feature enabled on Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system.

UAC is enabled by default in Windows Vista and Windows 7, as a result, you might encounter some compatibility problems with different applications that have not yet been updated for the Windows UAC component

Temporarily disabling UAC may resolve the exception access issue, however, turning off UAC reduces the security of your system. We do not recommend leaving UAC disabled.

You can find this on java's main website http://java.com/en/download/help/exception_access.xml

Is it possible to download an older version of Java?? I think they have a back catalogue of versions hidden away on the site somewhere.

Might be worth trying to run it whilst in fancy dress too.

Doctor costume usually works for me.

I find java always asks me if I want it to update, rather than doing it automatically? (Might just be settings on my machine though)
