My Bro's Op

Post by toadster » Fri Mar 02, 2012 8:59 pm

LO All :D

Some of you know my twin Bro , anyways he had an operation yesterday and came home today

Operation was cancelled 3 times this year but finally it happened ;)

He has suffered from epilepsy for about 20 odd years now and the op was to fit a little box which connects to a nerve in the neck.

It's called a vagal nerve stimulator :ugeek:

It's going to be switched on in a few weeks time , when it will start to stimulate the nerve in the neck that connects to the brain, at set time intervals , i think its 30 seconds every 5 minutes or something.

Apparantly with about 50% of people who have it fitted it reduces the number of fits they have so its fingers crossed

Cheers all ;)

Toadster, great that it's finally happened then. Sounds like he's been waiting for a while. Really hope it works as intended, good luck to him!

I know your bro's been waiting a while for the op, glad he's finally gone in and had it.

Hope it works for him when it gets switched on.

Glad the op went well - I've never heard of this before, I have a good friend who has epilepsy - I wonder if he's heard of this. He has a fit every couple of years on and off. Really puts him out not able to drive for a year after. Did you bro have the same issue?

Be interested to see how he gets on with it. :D
