whats best for the prelude 7j or 8j tyres, an on the induction kits everybody seems to use the cone shaped filter ,what about the mushroom type are they better or worse ?

7j is more common.
8j will be a tight fit and you will need to be
careful about the offset you go for.

Air filters - doesn't make much difference.
Cone shaped tend to have a larger surface area with all the the folds. But unless you go for a type s intake or aem v2 induction kit you won't see any performance increase. Just noise.

Like above I wouldn't swap the OEM intake out for something else. The OEM intake takes a cold air feed from the bumper. Most cone filters sit in the engine bay which isn't ideal.

If you want a little more induction roar get a K&N panel filter ;)

Try to get a Dynmic chamber intake (found in Type-S/S-Specs or H22A8 engines).. If you want more noise then I would suggest getting an AEM v2..

For "looks" and a different sound I guess. No single mod is going to give a noticeable jump in power.

The 5th gen is more unresponsive to mods than the 4th gen due to it being OBDII. Ideally the engine should be tuned to get the best out of intake and exhaust mods.

I personally find that there is nothing wrong with the standard air filter gubbins (I'm on a 4th gen).

I did remove everything before the filter housing on mine for a little more induction noise.

OEM short ram induction
