Spoon Gang - Then Bang!

Post by vanzep » Sat Mar 03, 2012 6:50 pm

I just picked up my new Spoon front and rear strut bars and was well pleased with myself :D So i thought i would test out the new suspension and brakes upgrades which id just finished work on and then as i coast up to the lights - bang - the underdrive pulley lets go.
I didnt even get to fit the spoon braces and join the spoon gang.
First time the lude has ever let me down
Not sure where we go from here....

Big thanks to Merlin who came out in his trusty fiat to tow me back home - hope u made it back home in one piece.

Yeah I made it home, altough something is deffo up with the Fiat  It was the cank pulley rubber that had gone, the underdrive pulley is the replacement ;) It one of those things, my 5G crank pulley failed on the motorway.

coasting up to lights and battery and cat warning lights came on - steering went heavy - switched ignition to 2nd position and coasted further 30 yards in petrol station - opened the bonnet to find power steering and alternator belts off but undamaged - underdrive pulley wobbling about!

sorry to hear that the fiat is sick :( ive got plenty of prelude parts that can be used to fix it up :D

Not having the best time of it at the moment man! Hope it's a simple fix and nothing got damaged. Who fitted the pulley?

Yeah will need to check a few things before i go buying in any parts..
Honda main dealer would have been last to touch it when doing timing belt back in 2001
So i need to do the timing belt as well - i didnt realise it had been nearly 11 years since it was last done and i think the pulley will be the original factory fitted one
I swear i was going to get round to replacing the parts as part of my maintenance schedule later this year.
Might as well do water pump and manual tensioner conversion when im in there.
