MOT Fail on battery clamp

So my MOT runs out at the end of the month and i thought i better take it in early in case it fails on anything. Well it failed, but on an easy fix of the battery clamp being missing.

I have ordered a nice JDM one off ebay, but looking at some places online it seems that some cable ties will count as a pass. If this is a case, why cant Kwik-Fit do that for me and then pass me

Any MOT testers out there know if the cable tie route is passable, as if clamp doesnt arrive in time i will do that to get it through MOT?

That is a bit harsh to be fair. Understandable that it's a requirement, but as it is such an easy fix a lot of MOT'ers would pass it under the promise that you'll sort it ASAP, which it sounds like you are. (I know some members will disagree with me there though).

So are you missing the tie-down hooks as well? Or do they come as part of your new clamp?

I'm sure there are members on here who could come to your aid for a small fee if not ;-)

My van had its 1st MOT on wednesday. It failed on 2 things.

No screenwash
Headlights aimed too high.

Well there was screenwash in there as i just filled it up and its a van so it has load adjustments for the headlight on the dash and when i can back to get the van the headlights were adjusted to their highest setting where i DONT have it.

Kicked up a fuss and they passed it. Idiots.

The battery has to be secure, so by what ever means, with bamboo or cable ties  If it was me testing it then i would probably put cable ties in there. That's harsh but that's what some mot places are like im afraid :?

Aye, cable ties should be ok.

There's an OEM battery tie down clamp for sale on here atm...

It comes with the tie down hooks, but from reading some reviews they may be too long and need to be modified a little.

Is there any "Official" ruling on the tie down method, as i dont want them to kick up a fuss if i do cable tie it.
